Achilles' Out Of This World 6th Birthday Party!

3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF! If you have a kid who’s into outer space + astronauts + rockets + aliens + stars, look no further than a space themed birthday party.

Achilles did not think twice when I asked what he wanted his 6th birthday party theme to be. His outer space birthday turned out being an out of this world party that all the kids enjoyed (pun intended).

Extra perk is it’s a gender neutral theme that you can easily switch around to fit your kids style.

INVITATIONS

I have made all of my kids birthday invitations thru Canva. As a content creator, I get a lot of use out of the app in its paid version. There is a free version with limited options but there’s still a lot you can do with it.

OUTER SPACE DECOR

I kept it pretty simple with the pizza table but it came out just perfect. The space plastic table cover instantly changed up the space. I added a few outer space honeycomb centerpieces and hung the out of this world banner directly behind the table. Once the kids were ready to eat, we pulled out the space, rockets and planets plates and napkins and they loved it.

CAKE TABLE

Balloon garlands have been all the rave for a while now and I’m not surprised. They can completely transform any space! The outer space balloon garland which included an astronaut, alien space ship and a rocket was so perfect. Second time doing the balloon garland ourselves and I can’t get enough of them.

Took hubby and I a bit over an hour to put together using a portable, electric balloon pump. Now before I go any further, let me tell you that the electric balloon pumps are lifesavers! Even if you only do one party a year at home where you need to fill balloons, at $20, I can’t recommend enough!

For the space themed cake, it’s been two year of getting ours from a local bakery we really love and adding my own cake topper. Cake is delicious, fits right in with the theme and we save money. What’s not to love?

This space cake topper along with the astronaut figures completed the space birthday cake.

We also added a space rocket treat stand and used planet party picks for the sweets along with a mix of light blue rock candy lollipops and dark ones.

GOODIE BAGS

Don’t know any kids who doesn’t get excited about taking home a little bit of the party. I filled their space goodie bags with a few sweet treats each, a space yoyo + outer space crazy loop straws + shuttle gliders.

SPACE PHOTO BOOTH

Photo booths are a hit at every party that has one so, for under $20, I set one up for the kids. No shock at all, they had a blast with it! The astronaut and rocket cutout backdrop is made of fabric and it’s washable which means you can use again or pass on to someone else to enjoy.

Now we all know that no photo booth is complete without some fun props and these space paper photo props were just perfect. Not exactly durable but just perfect for what we were looking for.

OUT OF THIS WORLD GAMES

Is it even a kid’s party if you don’t bring out the party games? I have done parties for the kids without actual games set up but I’m not going to lie, these games were a huge hit with the kids! A couple of tears because these kids are very competitive haha but so much fun.

A fun take on an old party game, we kicked it off with PIN THE MASK ON THE ASTRONAUT.

After that, no props necessary besides our home pod for music and FREEZE DANCE was another fun one. While the music is playing they dance; when you yell FREEZE and stop the music, they freeze. Whoever moves, sits down and the rest keep going until just one is left.

OUTER SPACE TOSS GAME this one was perfect because the kids kept coming back to it and playing on their own randomly throughout the party. This one is also made of fabric so it’s a game that I will definitely pull out during the summer whenever they want to play or have friends over.

After their first birthday, I think I have had a piñata for every one of their birthday parties. They’re so cute and the kids always get so excited for them! At 16 inches long, the rocket piñata was smaller than I was expecting but it holds up to 2 lbs. of candy and honestly it was enough. It even came with the matching bat and mask which was great because many times you have to buy them separately.

Being completely honest, when Achilles first told me he wanted a Space themed birthday party I didn’t think it would be cool enough but it was actually so much fun seeing it all come together. He loved it. His friends loved it. So once again I will say this party was a BLAST!
